Liverpool never had to make itself a hub of commerce and culture - nature had already done it. Although many cities have claimed to be centres of commerce over the centuries, it's the traders and visitors themselves who vote with their feet (and sails, wheels, engines, wings ...) and make a place succeed or fail as a place to do business. Liverpool became the place it has done simply because it worked - and that holds true to this day.

The city we call home is a dynamic and thriving place, where visitors have always received a warm welcome - indeed, many of them have decided to stay and become successful in their own right. Perhaps it's the maritime history that originally made the city such a warm place to stop by, but it's a part of the city's personality that remains to this day, whether the visitor is here on business, to study, to holiday or to light up the football stands.
